The company adds nearly 800 square feet of new laboratory space.
August 4, 2026
By: Patrick Lavery
Editor’s Take: Expanded setups like this one accelerate decision-making, streamline workflows, and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration.
Altasciences expanded the R&D laboratory at its Harleysville, Pa. drug product formulation and manufacturing services facility. This adds approximately 768 square feet of new laboratory space, and brings formulation development and analytical testing under one roof.
Such an integrated setup, according to Altasciences, ideally accelerates decision-making, can streamline workflows, and strengthens collaboration between scientific disciplines.
More specifically, the enhanced laboratory supports phase-appropriate, target product profile-driven formulation screening. This will be tailored both to therapeutic areas and routes of administration, but remaining agnostic to both.
Altasciences’ expanded lab will offer formulation development capabilities in small molecules, peptides, and complex modalities. This is in addition to good laboratory practice (GLP) and non-GLP toxicology samples for nonclinical studies. (The company adds a non-GLP R&D environment gives clients flexibility to design and optimize products before transitioning into regulated studies.)
The available advanced screening models, plus integrated analytical testing, support clinical or nonclinical readiness as well as real-time formulation decisions.
Anuji Abraham, Altasciences Senior Director, Pharmaceutical Development, CDMO Services, said clients will get CDMO services earlier in the discovery journey.
“With this expansion, we are strengthening our focus on early-stage integration,” Abraham said. “This enhances continuity across nonclinical and clinical programs, helping clients navigate key development milestones more efficiently and effectively.”
“This expansion is not just about building additional space,” Robert Sabelli, Altasciences Co-Chief Operating Officer, added. “By continuing to invest, we are growing our scientific talent and connecting our capabilities earlier in the development cycle.”
In Sabelli’s view, this better supports Altasciences’ clients, and ultimately, the patients they serve.
